Trinity Lutheran Church supports a number of local charities and organizations that serve various needs in the community and world. In fact, Pastor maintains a list of Cortez Support Organizations (updated 13 Aug 2026) that can be easily shared with those in need. Feel free to download and share it with whomever you think might find it useful.
In addition, there are several groups at Trinity that serve the needs of others.
The Board of Missions and Social Concerns provides financial support to various community and other social service agencies and ministries. They also hold various food drives and other activities to build up congregational engagement and support for our neighbors.
Once a year Trinity raises funds for a local pro-life pregnancy and counseling agency, Heart to Heart.
The Sew 'n' Sews, a quilting group, makes tied, single bed size quilts for Orphan Grain Train, a Christian volunteer network that shares personal and material resources with needy people in the United States and around the world. The SnSs organize a yearly auction to raise funds for OGT and the SnS supply closet. Much of what they use is donated, but they need basic supplies like batting and thread. They take the summer off, but start up again each September at 9:00 a.m. on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.
Trinity Lutheran Church also participates in the broader Christian Community of Montezuma County by being a part of the MMA and the Ashley Project. For more information about these ministries please visit them on Facebook or their fundraising pages.
